happy friday | 6.1.12

what do you get when you add these things together:

1. counting down the days of school left (eight more!!)
2. my twelve year old playing lazar wolf in the fiddler on the roof at his school.
3. my preschooler almost done with preschool and starting kindergarten next year!
4. the quick approach of summer (how many more of these do i have with my kids?)
and
5. a photo session with a precious eight day old.
(sneak peak:)

answer:
a wonderfully sappy song of course!!
(you expect that much on this blog by now, i'm sure.)

you don't see the connection?
the combination of all of these have caused me to process much of our life.
seeing a baby and realizing how much my kids are not one,
plus embracing all of the transition at hand.
plus watching fiddler on the roof a few times.
this song really stood out.
anyway, here's the lyrics:

from fiddler on the roof (with one verse omitted)
SUNRISE, SUNSET
Is this the little girl I carried?
Is this the little boy at play?
I don't remember growing older
When did they?

When did she get to be a beauty?
When did he get to be so tall?
Wasn't it yesterday
When they were small?

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears

What words of wisdom can I give them?
How can I help to ease their way?
Now they must learn from one another
Day by day

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears

i'm hoping the combo of all of these, also lends itself to another
 happy friday!!
xo.
