when you go away

(weepies... be my thrill)dedicated to my four blue eyed babes....

when you go away
it's like you hide the sun.

i regret today,
the things that we might have done.

no relief from grey skies
where'd you take those blue eyes?
what can i do??

when you go away
it's an unfinished song.

can't find words to say,
but i know where you belong.

take me with you this time
won't you? won't you?

don't make me miss you this time
don't you, don't you.

we're so much better together
don't you think??

i do.
i do.

walk the street parade looking through everyone
but they don't have your face.
oh look what i've become.

no relief from grey skies
where'd you take those blue eyes??
what can i do?

*********

our mornings are hectic. often, we're running late. i'm frazzled.
my fifth grader feels fifth grade is really hard.
my third grader is being stretched.
my first grader would rather stay home.
and my preschooler is happy to go. ;)

needless to say, i have to take a few deep breaths after dropping them off in the morning.
after packing all those lunches, finding two pairs of glasses, putting on shoes,
grabbing coats and rain boots, dashing into the classrooms and getting quick hugs...
i walk away
longing
for something slower.
longing to be with them a little longer.

and i miss them.
and i pray they grow,
learn and love.

and then i sing them this song.

I would sing this to Kate and Lexi, away at school all day.

Lovely pictures!

I would sing it to my sister Ashley, since my sister Kelsey gets the song about being a brown-eyed girl. :)

Well you made me cry again and you must have been reading my mind this morning b/c as I walked to Laurelhurst alone, I remembered when I wasn't, and I got teary, but then I do know where they belong and that this is best...but I do want to come along most days.

well you made me teary too! :) what a sweet post... Arden, our oldest, started school this year. definitely missing her precious smile. can't imagine what it'll be like when they're all off to school. and i can't get over your kiddos and how much they've grown! they are precious.

Love reading your blog! I would dedicate the song to my handsome, blue-eyed husband. There are never enough minutes in the day to spend together...and our alone time always seems to fly by!

I want to cuss at you because you made me cry. Mostly because I DON'T feel bad leaving my kids... I dream about the moments I have to myself -- to breathe and remember who I am. But, I also know that I am blessed because I hand them off to such wonderful people who nurture them and teach them God's truth, and who hand them back to me with much of the day left to share.
So, I would sing this song to my husband, who I don't share enough of myself with... too much of it is consumed by my children. I want more of my energy to be invested in him...

Our boys are still at home with me and I know that all too well. But they do have blue eyes. And I miss them when we have to go away for a trip something terrible.

You children are just precious! I guess they really do grow up fast -- I remember so well when your 5th grader was a toddler...and now I'm in that stage myself. Sigh.

I would sing it to my husband -- especially when he's deployed.

You completely captured that "pull." I want me some new Weepies, and I'd sing this to my girls and Brett-- I'm most completely "me" when we're all together.
