evolution.

here is another dove video. i just love what they are doing. and they are smart because their ad campaigns really do make me want to support them by using their products.

this particular video makes me think about our standards for beauty. have you ever thought about who we compare ourselves to? who do we expect to look like? we see beautiful women everywhere we go, but are they real? some are. even so, should we look like them? i really believe that everyone has beauty because i believe God creates beautiful things. just look around. but we can't say that there is an equal amount of beauty distributed. and honestly, it's probably better that way. perhaps it allows us to appreciate real beauty when we see it.

i believe that God allows us to play a part in making the world a more beautiful place~ that we are called to bring beauty around us. and if we include ourselves in that missional focus, then i believe enhancing the beauty God has given us as women can even be a way to worship Him.

...trying to cram my theology of christian aesthetics into this short post doesn't seem to be working so well. so i will stop here. :)
but thinking about all of this is healthy for me. it puts it into perspective a bit.

I've watched both of the Dove videos & they are awesome. THANKS for sharing & kudos to Dove for making. It's like they are exposing something! Expect trouble!
You are right that there are deep thots to be thunk here....& I plan to ponder. Is there a spiritual lesson or correlation to be made here? Please share.
Let's all make sure we zip off a quick eml to DOVE to thank them & encourage more of the same.

wow. you know that they do all that stuff for ads, billboards, magazines....but to see it in action like that really is impactful. i think dove's efforts are wonderful and its definitely making me think....especially b/c i have a daughter.

love these. it's both overwhelming and something i look forward to - raising children with appreciation of beauty, yet with confidence and humility and praise to Him who created it, who IS it.

I've been thinking about things along the same lines lately. Not just personal beauty, but the things around us, even things we consider ugly. but maybe they are only ugly b/c we have been trained to think so? .......maybe i need to blog.......

this is really interesting...I love that you have a theology of Christian aesthetics...so few think about this! I agree that making beauty in responsible ways is indeed worship...part of our cultivation and tending of the creation...

Well said, and thank you for posting. I have a 12 year old daughter, who is beautiful (inside and out) just the way God made her! and want her to stay that way!... I have thought and prayed hard over this same issue. Thanks again,
